This past month has been crazy! And I apologize for no #forgingfridays this month as most of you know that my full time job is working and feeding the beast, known as @dragonforgeltd But we can do mini #Forging Friday’s…work with me here. Some had questions about the pnuematic power hammer I’ve been using. This is a homemade version and weighs in at 230lb+/- Today I’m forging #rail cap for #DragonForgeltd and here is the setup using a bottom die. A small note is to control the tool/material is so important. If you #forge too aggressive you can cause the material to move to fast thus creating waves along the sides. That’s a “no no” in this shop. Instead we take controlled passes and forge it down. Also have to keep everything straight as this round bar wants to twist at times. It’s fun…like 90’ of it kind of fun. 👊 #keepItDirty #blacksmith #blacksmithing #powerhammer #blacksmithproblems #DirtySmith #squish #timelaspe #2minin15sec

Where would I be able to aquire a step by step diagram on building such apparatus?

On the Field and in Your Face: @hellochristinrose Inspires Confidence Through #ShePlaysWeWin

To learn more about #ShePlaysWeWin, follow @hellochristinrose on Instagram.

It all started with an image of Sky Brown, a 7-year-old skateboarder from Japan who glared challengingly into Christin Rose’s (@hellochristinrose) camera. “She made this project,” the photographer says. “Her knee’s all bloodied up and she’s just sitting on her skateboard with her turquoise nail polish chipped off.”

Christin’s initiative #ShePlaysWeWin features in-your-face images of tough little girls in all their athletic glory. “The courage my life requires right now to take risks, be willing to fail, be a teammate and work on getting better is the exact same stuff I learned on the softball field when I was 10 years old,” the photographer says. So far, she’s photographed skateboarders, surfers, soccer players and boxers, predominantly in her native California, but she envisions going global. “If it helps one little girl go, ‘Maybe I could skateboard, maybe I could play ice hockey,’ it will all be worth it.”

I was reading a conversation about the #millennials generation and a perspective that “they” don’t know how to #work , don’t want to work or lack the ability to work. Found out I’m in that generation (born 82.) Thinking about all the work going into #DragonForgeltd and #dirtysmith , staying late to hit deadlines and the constant push to not only work but do it right. Personally I’ve never put someone in a category and judged them by their label of generation. It’s always been about #character and #integrity . I have worked with plenty of lazy, frustrated, even lost, #babyboomers but let their actions do the talking. I don’t have any conclusion other than let me show you who I am before any assumptions are made. You might be surprised. #blacksmith #blacksmithing #dirtythoughts #Probablygoingtooffendsomeone
